Biography
Brian Spencer
Brian Spencer comes to us from Liverpool, England via New Jersey. He currently makes him home in Arizona during the coolest part of the year and returns to his family in Salem, Oregon for the summer. During his youth Brian served a six year apprenticeship in signwriting and graduated from the Harris College of Art. After fulfilling his military service he enjoyed many successful years in the sign business. He began a new career in fine art after his retirement. His watercolor and oil paintings have won numerous awards and are prized by many collectors. Most recently Brian has won awards in the Surprise Plein Air competition.
Brian is a past president and current member of the Vanguard Artists and participates in their gallery showing at the Sun West Professional building in Sun City West. Brian is currently active in the Plein Air group of painters from Sun West Art Club. He talks enthusiastically about beautiful scenes of the Arizona desert landscape and Oregon coast. Paintings based on trips to various sites are featured on this blog.
